Save More With Holdfast Bay’s Green Living Rebates

The City of Holdfast Bay is offering to its residents rebates on energy-efficient appliances and sustainable home improvements. This program is designed to incentivise residents to adopt environmentally friendly practices. Rebates are available for a variety of products, including electric vehicles, rainwater tanks, native plants. and most applicable to us or course, hot water.

In addition to the rebates mentioned above, the program also offers incentives for water-saving fixtures, clotheslines, and solar hot water systems. For more information on the specific rebates available and how to apply, please visit the City of Holdfast Bay website.

For the purpose of hot water replacement, this leaves residents with a gas system in an excellent position. Government programs (both state and federal) already exist to help you switch to a more up-to-date hot water system, such as a heat pump. There are programs which also apply if your property no longer uses natural gas. As a resident of the Holdfast Bay Council, you might be eligible for up to three rebates totalling up to a max of $1,973 to upgrade your old gas hot water system to a more efficient heat pump system.

How does it work?

If you currently have a gas hot water system installed in your home in one of the eligible suburbs listed above and upgrade to a heat pump system you are entitled to;

  • $1,017 from the Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) for installing an energy efficient heat pump system and getting rid of gas connection to the house ($330 if you choose to leave the gas connected)

  • $756 in Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) from the federal government (varies depending on exact product installed)

  • 50% of your total costs up to $200 for replacing a gas powered appliance to electric or solar powered from the Holdfast Bay City Council

Terms and Conditions

^Offer applies to existing Class 1 and new or existing Class 2 Dwellings & SA Small Businesses looking to electrify their premise by disconnecting the reticulated/natural gas connection from the property and replace their existing external gas hot water system.

All installation quotes are subject to site inspection. Customers must contact HOT WATER COM AU to find out if they are eligible for the offer based on their property’s existing set-up. Rebates vary based on the property’s energy connection status, location (based on climate zones) and model of the new system being installed. Other tank sizes, fuel types and brands are available upon request. Offer only available on supply and installation of the system by HOT WATER COM AU or their accredited representative; all REPS credits created under these offers must be assigned to MAC Trade Service’s (MACTS) obliged Energy Retailer partner. Offer valid until 30th November 2024 unless Scheme or offer is changed prior.

Please note that REPS and STC rebates can be claimed by HOT WATER COM AU on behalf of the customer the council based rebates can only be claimed by the customer themselves.
